A student walked into the Silver Creek library cold from the frigid weather and was going to buy a hot drink. Normally they get Chai, but the library no longer sells that so they’ll settle for hot chocolate to warm up then they freeze mid-step… There, on a sticky note was a list of four new drinks.
Kristin Holtz, teacher-librarian, decided to try to find a good replacement for the Chai because many students are sad to see it no longer being sold in the Library due to the high costs of the product.“Since we can’t offer the chai anymore I thought we’d try something new” Holtz.
These new flavors: the Salted Caramel, English Toffee, White Chocolate Caramel, and Cinnamon Bun are bought from an online site where you have to sign up to buy them. To make the drinks, you just have to mix some of the flavorful powder with some hot water and you have your drink.
However, the simple creation does not mean the drinks are any less good. So far Holtz reported that many students like the new drinks and they have been scoring a three or four out of four on the survey. When students are questioned, they have said similar things like “It tastes good” and “l like it.”

Silver Creek freshman Eddie Crotser tried the drinks and said “the salted caramel is thick but in a good way and it’s creamy but only a little bit.”
This also adds a new activity to the library. “I think a lot of people came to see what it was about then they’d come back because they like participating in the trail to choose a new flavor,” Holtz said when asked why she thinks students like the new drinks “I think there’s something new about it and people like things that are new.”

Students like the drinks so much that the library has run out of Cinnamon Bun and they’ve run low on the other flavors too. With so many drinks being ordered students wonder which one will stay.
“Not everybody has done the survey… we’ll look at the numbers, do some number crunching and see which flavor comes out on top” Holtz said “and if they’re really close then maybe we’ll add two new flavors we’ll see.”
However, not all flavors are permanent and an extra drink might not get picked but one flavor will stay, “maybe we’ll bring others back for specialty drinks later here and there” Holtz said “Like winter, February-ish when we want a pick-me-up.”
With how cold it can get students would enjoy a warm drink besides hot chocolate to drink in the mornings, especially after school while they wait to be picked.
