With the spooky season drawing near, Halloween is here! Halloween is an event that many in the United States celebrate, and there are many ways to celebrate it.

Some people may choose to ward away the nighttime frights with some cinema. This is the case with Ben Pecherzewski and Drew Heath, Juniors at Silver Creek. However, Heath does not care what he and his friends are going to watch.

“I’m just going with the flow to them,” Heath says.

Pecherzewski, however, has a certain film genre that he decided that he will be watching.

“Anything West-Craven or 80’s slasher,” Pecherzewski states.

Reminiscent of the trickster spirits, some choose to pull devious pranks on others. One of these tricksters is Mia Ross, A Senior at Silver Creek. Ross first plans to make an elaborate plan to scare her father.

“I’m going to tell him, ‘Hey the camera’s broken, we should probably get that fixed. …then I am going to pretend to run over my friend and be like ‘I told you we should have gotten that fixed.’’ Ross says, explaining the devious plan.

That is not the only thing Ross has in mind for Halloween frights, she has another plan to frighten.

“I will get one of those glowing masks [from the movie The Purge]. . .I’m going to wear that with a hood, and then I’ll scare the little kids.” Ross said.

Contrary to popular belief, teachers also get in on the spiritual fun. For example, Jason Lathrop, an English teacher at Silver Creek High School, has previously done an ensemble costume.

“One year we were the characters from the movie: Dodgeball [Referring to Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story],” Lathrop said.

So, even though teachers and students have work to do, they still try to make Halloween fun for the students. It is okay how you choose to celebrate Halloween, as long as you keep the spooky spirit of it.
