In January of 2025, the Denver Broncos released the ALL IN. ALL COVERED. program that distributed updated helmets for every high school football team in the state of Colorado. The helmet company, Riddell, visited every high school to perform 3D head scans to make custom football helmets and updated safety measures. Silver Creek High School, being in Colorado, was included, and they’ll wear these new helmets for the 2026-27 season. These new helmets are important to Silver Creek because they allow players to stay in the game, increasing football’s presence at the school.
Jeremy Mercer, the head football coach at Silver Creek, emphasized the excitement the program gives to the football team.
“We’re fortunate,” Mercer said. “It provides some advanced helmets to keep kids in the game of football.”
Other additions to the helmets include the player’s name and a Denver Broncos logo. Football player, Wyatt Mills, sees this as being a part of not just the Silver Creek Community, but the Denver Broncos community.
“You’re representing [The Denver Broncos], even though you’re not at that pro level,” Mills said. “It feels like you’re representing something bigger than yourself.”
What makes the program special is that schools can significantly save money. Helmets are not cheap, especially for a public school. Helmets can be $800 dollars each, so when an opportunity comes to get them at a lower cost, schools are much more likely to accept it. The problem, however, is the constant maintenance and remeasurements required to confirm safety and efficiency.
“You’re basically funneled into doing reconditioning and using the Riddell for that stuff (helmet fitting), which is tough,” Mercer said.
Even though it’s challenging with the reconditioning and tedious work, Mercer views this program as a positive impact.
“It kind of sucks to be in a pigeonhole there, but the savings are worth it,” Mercer said.
In addition, Mills praised the Denver Broncos for the program for its investment in the future of football.
“I think it shows that they care about the safety of the next generation of football players,” Mills said.
A key element this program has added is rooted in sports directly: confidence. Whether you need to hit a ball, score a goal, or make a tackle, having the right mindset is essential to good performance, and Mills believes the program allows more of that confidence.
“I think it builds confidence because you’re not worried of getting hurt, because you have more confidence in your equipment, knowing that they’re fitted to the size of your head,” Mills said.
Silver Creek Football has had numerous changes in the past year. The transition from 4A to 3A football and the new stadium already make the next season historic, but the ALL IN. ALL COVERED. program contributes in a different way: an increase in football prevalence in Silver Creek and the state of Colorado.
“It shows that football’s still a growing sport, and the technological advances make it safer.” Mills said. “It might bring more kids to play and more talent.”
With all these new factors playing into the new season, there’s a lot on the line for Silver Creek Football. The new lights, new mindsets, and most importantly, the new helmets, will add to the new era for Silver Creek Football, which starts this fall.

![Hosting the SCLA Casptone Mentor Dinner outside allowed for more attendees on September 27, 2021 at Silver Creek. This event would’ve usually been held inside. According to Lauren Kohn, a SCLA 12 teacher, “If we have a higher number of people, as long as we can host the event outside, then that seems to be keeping every[one] safe”.](https://schsnews.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/sxMAIGbSYGodZkqmrvTi5YWcJ1ssWA08ApkeMLpp-900x675.jpeg)
