This summer, Silver Creek High School students will be traveling the world with their fellow classmates and teachers. Bryon Booher, a hHistory teacher at Silver Creek, is chaperoning a trip to Berlin, Prague, Krakow, and Budapest in June, 2026.
There are around 40 students attending the trip this summer. They, they are leaving on June 16 and will be traveling for 12 days. The main requirement to attend the trip is that you must be a senior.
“I like to take seniors because they all kind of know each other and they’ve just graduated,” Booher said.
Students attending the trip signed up to go during their junior year, which has given them time to prepare and make payments over the year. The idea for the trips is typically connected to Booher’s AP European History class, as they tend to visit places that they have learned about.
“Not everyone [who]that goes on the trips takes AP Euro, but for the students that do, it’s cool for them to see the connection between the history we talked about and then actually seeing it in real life,” Booher said.
There are several Silver Creek staff members chaperoningattending the trip. Joylynn Boardman, an English teacher at Silver Creek, is one of the lucky few. Boardman was asked to chaperone the trip by Booher.
“Mr. Booher asked me to chaperone and it’s kind of a huge honor,” Boardman said.
Each chaperone is in charge of a group of about five5 students. Booher is chaperoning a group of students, including Sienna Webber, Anna Trochman, and Olivia Wert, all seniors at Silver Creek. Wert is excited to travel with her friends this summer.
“I really wanted to go on this trip because it’s a way I can go to new places while being with friends,” Wert said.
The trip will cover the main sights in each place they are visiting. Each day of the trip has an outline or an itinerary of what they are going to be doing. There are specific places that people attending the trip are most excited to visit.
“[Budapest, Hungary,Hungary, Budapest, I’m really excited because my children have traveled the world with their dad and they’ve never been there,” Boardman said. “So that would be a country I’ve been to but they haven’t.”
“I think I’m most excited about Kraków Poland, because a lot of my ancestors are from Poland, so it’s kind of cool and I’ve never been to Poland before,” Booher said. “And I’ve heard Budapest, Hungary is a really cool city so I’m excited to visit that for sure.”
“I’m really excited to visit Prague,“ Wert said. “My parents went there on their honeymoon and they told me how much they loved it and how beautiful it was.”
If you are a junior and are looking for a senior trip, take Booher’s trip into consideration.

![Hosting the SCLA Casptone Mentor Dinner outside allowed for more attendees on September 27, 2021 at Silver Creek. This event would’ve usually been held inside. According to Lauren Kohn, a SCLA 12 teacher, “If we have a higher number of people, as long as we can host the event outside, then that seems to be keeping every[one] safe”.](https://schsnews.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/sxMAIGbSYGodZkqmrvTi5YWcJ1ssWA08ApkeMLpp-900x675.jpeg)
